While traveling, my family visited the Gateway Arch, a part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, in St. Louis. It is a fun place to visit, and we did the required things: see a movie and ride the tram to the top of the Arch.
On the way in, we took a traditional family photo at the base of the Arch.
The tram to the top was a bit crowded. We fit 5 of us into it, and we are not small. My husband was taking this photo and we were encouraging him to move fast to get in before the doors snapped shut.
Although it was a rainy day, the view at the top was still spectacular. We took some memento photos – bunny ears inside the top of the Arch.
What really got us excited however, was the fact that we could see our rental van from the top of the Arch. Seriously, how exciting is that?

You all have taken my dream trip. I want to travel the country and stop at every larger than life roadside attraction there is. Giant crosses, candles and Christmas ornaments? I’m jealous!

Hi Lori! We did have a great time, sorry to make you jealous. I wish that I could have taken more time, it only lasted 5 days total.
Believe it or not, I’m actually going to get around to telling about the actual reason for the trip – but not for a couple more days, I think!
Anyway, you’re getting the flavor of traveling, Hanus style. Visiting the Arch was probably the most “normal” thing that we have done.
There was this giant hamburger one time in Washington or Oregon; you would have loved it. I don’t have pictures of it anymore…
